Description

Purpose

Assists various departments with clerical duties. Assists with the maintenance of the files and records for the credit union.

Answers basic inquiries and service questions to members and / or prospective members following Downey Federal Credit Union policies and procedures and State and Federal rules and regulations. Directs inquiries to appropriate staff. Performs a variety of clerical duties related to member accounts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves in a dual capacity for ATM balancing and verifying and posting DUSD deposits. Also performs as a secondary person for monetary transactions that require dual verification. Posts incoming mail deposits or payments when needed.
  • Review closed account reports and execute procedures related to the removal of these files from active status.
  • Mails monthly postcards for age-appropriate account changes; file maintains suffix description.
  • Review the closed loan report and archive loan documents and related paperwork. Release collateral on loans as instructed.
  • Performs various clerical duties related to documents of newly funded and existing consumer and real estate loans.
  • Mails notices and responds to member inquiries about the annual dormancy / escheat process. Receives and properly documents member correspondence. Updates last contact dates of member records and removes accounts from dormancy status. Confirms annual escheat balance and maintains escheated account records.
  • Maintain accurate and complete member files, signature cards and / or other records
  • Serves as a teller to process member transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, Loan payments, address changes, and any other transactions or file maintenance requests.
  • Maintains individual and department work areas securely and orderly.
  • Responsible for ensuring confidentiality and security of credit union and member information and documents.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the features and benefits of all credit union products and services to offer the most appropriate products to members. Keeps abreast of marketing promotions and educates members on new credit union benefits and offerings.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules, and regulations that govern credit union operations.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, which includes the Customer / Member Identification requirements for new members, Anti-Money Laundering requirements, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements. Compliance with the regulation involves gathering information needed to ensure the timely and accurate filing of Currency Transaction Reports, reporting suspicious activity involving members, non-members, and credit union staff, and other suspected money laundering activities.
  • Ensures compliance with all credit union member service standards. Performs all member-related functions and activities following superior member service. Promotes a retail sales environment by selling all credit union products and services.
  • Employs analytical reasoning to identify opportunities and threats to members and credit unions.
  • Willingly accepts the direction management gives to meet the goals established by the Board of Directors.
  • Service the membership and always maintain a positive attitude within the office.
  • Performs all other related duties as requested by management.

  • Ability to be bonded.
  • Understand basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to use office machines as required for the position.
  • Favorable written and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to stoop or kneel.
  • Occasionally lift, carry and / or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Basic personal computer knowledge (Word, Excel).
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish); helpful, but not required.

    19-$21 / hour
