Position Overview
This position is a mid-level position and essential to the success of Ducworks. The Finishing Technician is responsible for assisting in bringing a project to its finished stage. The Finishing Technician is responsible for reading and following blueprints and assembling/finishing each part with precision.
Essential Job Functions
Schedule
· It is anticipated that this job may require more than the standard 8-hour workday and that occasionally Saturday work will be required. Each Finishing Technician is expected to show up on time for each shift.
· Rotating schedule with every other Friday off.
· Use the time clock to accurately track time spent on jobs and strive to keep indirect labor to less than 20%.
Quality
· The Finishing Technician is required to show excellence in quality workmanship as well as on-time delivery of products.
· Each employee should always look for ways to improve safety, productivity, quality, cleanliness, and organization of his shop area. Getting jobs done right the first time in a safe and efficient manner is essential.
Work:
· Train new hires as needed.
· Help employees set up for jobs, and double check setups before work begins.
· Assist in any area within the department as workload and schedule demands, particularly in Grit Blast and Assembly.
· Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions,
· Needs an understanding of how to read blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
· Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
· Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and forklifts to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up, and repair of machinery.
· Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
· Assembly Tech. will be required to learn about and adhere to SSPC/NACE standards for corrosion control and coatings.
· Assembly Tech will require the ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time, as well as rigorous manual labor in hot or cold conditions at times.
Requirements:
· Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma.
· Ability to read and understand blueprints.
· Mechanical aptitude and keen understanding of safety and quality control.
· Each Finishing Technician must be able to properly use hand tools.
· Must be able to see, hear, and use hand(s) to perform job functions.
· Strong ability and experience in leadership.
· At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
· Experience in the machining industry a plus.
· Experience in Complex assembly instructions. 2 years minimum
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
