Busy single-location, one physician ophthalmology practice seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing front office operations, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring the smooth flow of patient care. This role requires proficiency in handling medical records, familiarity with health information management, and a strong understanding of medical administrative support.
- Welcome all patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Accurately update and maintain patient medical records using electronic health record systems, check-in, check-out, and insurance verification.
- Collect and accurately process payments, co-payments, and outstanding balances.
- Answer multi-line phones, faxing, scanning documentation and other administrative tasks.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments effectively, ensuring accuracy and optimizing the scheduling system for maximum efficiency.
- Handle billing inquiries and effectively communicate with billing department.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other offices to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
- Adhere to all HIPPA regulations, ensuring confidentiality of patient information is secure
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and reception area
:
- 2 years medical office experience required; ophthalmology or optometry office experience highly preferred
- Proficiency with computers – NextGen knowledge is a plus
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
