DuPage County Health Department is Hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Near Wheaton, IL

We are excited to offer the opportunity to work as a Psychiatric Nurse in our Behavioral Health Services department. We have current availability to work at our North Public Health Center, located in Addison, Illinois, on a full-time basis. This is a 37.5 hour per week position, and the hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM with one day per week, working 10:30 AM until 7:00 PM. A bilingual candidate is preferred for this position.
Can you say benefits? This position offers a full DuPage County benefit package which includes 12 paid holidays, 3 weeks of paid vacation per year and paid sick time. This is also a pension-eligible position and we are a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
• Performs nursing and case management activities for clients with behavioral health and substance use disorders including:
  • Assists in clients getting medication refills
  • Meets with psychiatric prescribers to review procedures related to client care
  • Consults with staff and clients and their families regarding medical & Medication issues
• Provides consultation services• Reviews lab results including for clients on clozapine therapy• Refers clients to other county and state resources as needed• Participates in emergency response activities as assigned• Administers long-acting psychotropic medications & medications for medication-assisted treatment• Monitors client vital signs• Performs medication reconciliation  Good knowledge of practices & principles of nursing & psychiatric nursing; good knowledge of relevant social & economic factors influencing client behavior; good knowledge of local health resources; good knowledge of medical records preparation & maintenance techniques.Working skill in instructing others in treatments & practices; working skill in making group presentations in health education; working skill in maintaining medical documentation; working skill in delegating & assigning work to others; working skill in analyzing client needs; working skill in verbal & written communication; working skill in developing & maintaining positive & professional relationships with internal & external customers; working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software & peripheral equipmentTraining & Education:
Completing of either an associate degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing and two years of nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training & experience. A bi-lingual candidate is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Illinois. A bachelor's degree in nursing & previous psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
