What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Durham Housing Authority?
Performs technical work conducting a variety of skilled structural, plumbing, and electrical building maintenance work at authority properties, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. This position is considered essential and is subject to emergency call-back.
Schedule: Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm; Emergency Call-back is required and likely.
Requirements: High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of building or apartment maintenance experience including installation of appliances, carpentry, basic electrical & plumbing diagnostics/repairs. HVAC experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Must possess a valid NC State issued driver’s license and be insurable under the Authority’s plan.
Special Requirements: To perform this job successfully, the employee is required to report back to work, outside of normal business hours, to respond to emergency maintenance work. During emergency/call back rotation, all maintenance staff are required to be on-site within one (1) hour of receiving the emergency notification.
