Position Title: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Department: Administration
Reports to: Director of Child & Family Services
Supervises: Behavior Technicians
Classification: Full-time Regular
Status: Exempt

DEFINITION:

Under the supervision of the Director of Child & Family Services, the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides and coordinates services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analysis and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, as well as adaptive life skills. The BCBA will also oversee behavior technicians and provide ongoing support to Agency operations as it related to the implementation and documentation associated with Behavior Support Plans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervision and Training

  • Function in a supervisory capacity and provide oversight to all areas of programming of Behavior Technicians and where applicable teaching staff.
  • Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis, using both discrete trial training and natural environment training models of teaching.
  • Provide model teaching and other direct instructional supports including, but not limited to, class instructions and in-service instruction to other teaching professionals.
  • Meet with staff to discuss ongoing child issues and to provide support when necessary.
  • Perform Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and other evaluations.
  • Monitor and adjust plans based on data and child progress.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, conducts functional assessments and analysis.
  • Create evidence-based intervention plans tailored to the individual child’s needs.
  • Monitor and adjust plans based on data and child progress.
  • Develop behavior plans/tools for all children with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behaviors.
  • Develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behaviors.
  • Review and sign off on behavior plan training for all staff and provide direct supervision when necessary.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on child progress. Enter session notes within 72 hours of each session into Hubbe
  • Use data to inform decision-making and modify behavior plans as needed.
  • Create an ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficiency for all children and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming.
  • Maintain all data, paperwork and communication between staff and families and provide ongoing feedback and reporting to government related agencies that contract with such families.
  • Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for children and their families.
  • Involved in activities that support the parent community, including parent meetings, conferences, home visits, and in-take conferences, as needed/requested.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding children and their families enrolled at the center.
  • Monitor IFSP/IEP processes and contact families.
  • Provide consultations services and maintain ongoing communication with all constituents.
  • Maintains open and respectful communication with children, staff, and parents.
  • Works cooperatively with other staff members, accepts supervision, and helps promote a positive atmosphere.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively with staff and families.
  • Fill in for Behavior Technicians as needed.
  • Keep current with the literature, new research findings and resources.
  • Continue education courses to maintain BCBA certification.
  • Travel frequently within program service areas including overnight stays, as required.

MINIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in special education or related human services field.
  • Certified as a BCBA with a minimum two years’ work experience. Certification must be kept up to date (32 credits every 2 years).
  • Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
  • In good health and free of active Tuberculosis.
  • Must provide completed Health Screening Report, immunizations, and Department of Justice clearance prior to employment.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with others in group problem solving situations.
  • Able to identify and resolve obstacle in a timely manner, gather and analyze data, develop alternative solutions.
  • Write clearly and informatively; edit work of others; vary writing style to meet the needs of the audience; able to explain anything in reports in laymen terms to families.
  • Keyboarding skills, computer literacy, and familiarity with various applications such as database, word processing, e-mail, and internet.
  • Experience working with a diverse and multicultural population; understanding of problems of varying socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Follow policies and procedures; complete tasks on time; support Agency’s goals and values.
  • Ability to communicate well with adults and children of diverse academic, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, including people with disabilities.
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.
  • Must be able to balance and prioritize workload and have strong time management skills.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual/Biliterate ability in English/Spanish.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education, intervention skills, and community resources.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with community-funded programs and children with special needs.
