POSITION DEFINITION:

You will provide weekly early Childhood education for a caseload of up to 12 families. This position offers paid sick leave, paid leave during holidays and school breaks, and concierge health care services

Our home visitors comply with all federal guidelines ( Early Head Start Performance Standards, Transmittal Notices, etc.) and local Head Start policies in providing children and families with Early Head Start Services.

You will provide children with a learning environment and varied experiences which will help them develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development and toward the overall goal of social competence.

You will assist parents in developing skills which contribute to the well being of all members of the family.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED.

Work experience with children 0-3.

Valid Texas driver’s license, current proof of automobile liability insurance.

Complete Parents as Teachers Home Educator Training after completing 180 day employment probationary period. Complete CDA (child development certification within one year of hire).

HOME VISITOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include the following, others duties may be assigned.

  • Make weekly home visits to up to 12 home based families assigned to you, according to Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Document the progress and achievements of all the participating children.
  • The Home Visits that have been cancelled by the Program, are to be made up within two weeks after the cancellation.
  • Complete the forms of the Non-Federal Share In Kind and return them to the office every week. The forms must be signed by the person donating the In-Kind.
  • Record Attendance for the children in the child record database in a timely manner.
  • Interact with children and parent(s) during all home lesson activities.
  • Reinforce acceptable behaviors and redirects unacceptable behaviors.
  • Deals with individual problems on an individual basis.
  • Does not raise voice or threaten
  • Demonstrates respect for each child and accepts differences in children.
  • Models correct speech patterns and vocabulary for children.
  • Corrects through conversation.
  • Provides opportunities for each child to experience success and reinforces all efforts.
  • Extends learning.
  • Engages children in appropriate learning activities during weekly visits in home.
  • Enhances skills of parents in assisting children’s social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

  • Participates in group socialization activities with children and parents.
  • Completes child’s folder. Updates as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of child and family information.
  • Provides training for parents as needed.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observes and abides by all licensing and Early Head Start Standards.
  • Participates in weekly consultations with Early Head Start Infant/Toddler Manager
  • Attends all required Early Head Start Staff Development and in-service meetings.
  • Supports program policies, accepting changes and new ideas.
  • Complies with personnel policies regarding absences and tardiness.
  • Signs in and Signs Out daily, upon arriving for work, upon leaving for lunch, and upon leaving for the day.
  • Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
  • Uphold and adheres to safety rules and policies of the Early Head Start program.
  • Will maintain a current food handler’s permit, and current First Aid and CPR certification.

Evaluation of the performance of this job will be based on supervisor’s evaluation, according to the procedures developed for center personnel. Employment in this position is contingent on performance, need, and funding.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.48 - $14.49 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
