Fabrication Shop Associate

East Moline Glass (EMG) is a regional leader in commercial glass façade manufacturing and installation. Objective:

We are looking to add enthusiastic and hard-working team members to our EMG family! This position will work in our fabrication facility to perform a variety of tasks as the demand is needed – this could include fabrication to maintenance & cleaning. There will be use of hand and power tools and interaction with other staff and supervisors. Thorough training will be provided – a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are the top required assets.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the entire shop where the demand is needed whether it is in unloading trucks, material inventory, cleaning, organizing, fabrication, or operating a fabrication machine
• Assist in loading the fabrication machines with long stock lengths of aluminum material
• Assist in entire shop clean up such as sweeping, picking up cardboard, trash removal, etc.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools to safely and effectively assemble aluminum framing
• Some tedious work involved such as caulking and working with vinyl
• Willing to work with complicated fabrication such as cutting at complex angles and miters
• Work as a team with other staff to successfully complete each job; and work to ensure the safety of everyone
• Ability to read and understand blueprint-like drawings that include dimensions
• Ability to read and understand assembly instructions
• Ability to utilize and understand a tape measure
• Operation of forklifts or combi lifts
• Other duties as assigned

• Team player and ability to work independently

Experience/Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent – highly preferred
• Experience in construction/manufacturing/receiving – preferred
• Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions:

• Temperature controlled fabrication facility, possible exposure to loud noises and movement of equipment/forklifts
• Required to lift heavy material (at least 50 pounds) and team lift following safety procedures
• Required to work on your feet during an entire shift in a manufacturing facility
