Job Summary

Pittsburgh, PA | Fox Chapel

• Start Date: March 11th
• Hours: Schedule similar to Tuesday-Friday 8am to 4pm; 32 hours/week guaranteed, family open to additional guaranteed hours for the right person | Would love one date night every two weeks
• Hourly Rate: $30/hour
• Children: 7, 5, 2 year-old, and baby due in April
• Paid Vacation: One week family’s choice, one week nanny’s choice, 3 sick/personal days, holidays that fall on a workday

Responsibilities and Duties

• WHO/WHAT: Would you agree that cardboard has a zillion ways of being reused with a kid's imagination at the helm? Can you bounce between dishes, laundry, errands and watching a couple kiddos the next? This bustling family of soon-to-be six, nestled in between Glenshaw and Fox Chapel, needs help yesterday! Dad is a full-time surgeon and part-time artist; Mom was a graphic designer whose entire attention (and then some!) is currently dedicated to running this full house. That’s where you come in as her supportive right hand. Although flexibility is key, you’ll primarily work Tuesday to Friday covering mornings to early evening, with later evenings and overtime available for the occasional date night coverage. During that time, you’ll be ready to help with whatever Mom needs, and what that looks like will fluctuate. On the household management side, you’ll assist her with administrative functions like running errands and coordinating with contractors. You’ll also help with tasks like laundry, dishes/bottles, and healthy meal prep (there’s a weekly housekeeper who handles the heavier stuff). Of course, the critical other piece of this action-packed role is caring for the three (soon-to-be four) remarkable kids. The oldest daughter is seven, her baby brothers are five and two, and the youngest brother joins this April! You’ll lovingly co-nurture these kids, finding fresh ways to bond and help them grow. Together, you’ll break out into impromptu dance parties, play with their preferred toys, or go for a hike holding hands. You’re also happy to taxi the children to and from school and extracurricular activities, preferably while using your own vehicle. There are temporarily 4 chickens who need minimal attention. This is a long-term position that could last for years with a creative, intellectual, and active family who’ll warmly welcome you to the team. Due to how closely you’ll work with Mom, it’s imperative that your personality clicks. In the face of chaos – which you would expect with four young ones – you’re confident, patient, and personable. You know how to motivate and redirect kids of various ages in a nurturing way that solicits their cooperation and makes them feel you’re in charge but on their side. Artistic, creative, and playful, you love staying active and being helpful. You have experience caring for multiple children at once and score gigantic bonus points if you speak Spanish and/or have doula/midwife/newborn experience. Most importantly, you have a ton of common sense, maintain a positive attitude, and embrace a “team” mentality.
