Position Description:
Perform duties to maintain water treatment system for the entire plant with a safety-minded attitude that maintains and enhances a safety-culture for the benefit of the Company and its employees. The nature of this work involves exposure to a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (i.e. wet, humid, cold, hot, etc.). Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, aprons, face shields, respirators, ear protection and skid resistant boots are provided. Attendance is critical as the Treatment Plant is staffed by a small group of team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Continuously circulate through wastewater areas and monitor equipment and treatment process
- Monitor flow of wastewater and tank levels
- Perform tests at various stages of treatment and make adjustments as needed
- Mix and use treatment chemicals
- Report problems and/or discrepancies as soon as they happen to supervisor, next shift personnel, and plant engineer
- Perform some laboratory work
- Perform scheduled clean-up and light maintenance duties
- Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned

Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Previous Wastewater experience required
- Operator’s License (minimum Class I) required
- Willingness to complete the study program and pass the State Exam for a Class III license within 6 months of employment
- Dependability and history of satisfactory attendance
- Able to work with minimal or no supervision
- Good problem-solving skills, needs to be able to find solutions to wastewater treatment concerns
- Good math skills (i.e.: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division); must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the math skills needed for the position
- Able to learn and use work related computer software
- Good record keeping skills, detail oriented
- Able and willing to learn methods and precise procedures used in operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant
- Able to communicate effectively with co-workers; bilingual is not required but it is a plus
- Flexibility as work schedules may change
- Available on-call to cover other shifts as needed
- Must be able to document and read daily logbook, read and understand the discharge permit requirements as written
- Must be self-motivated and able to anticipate and execute what needs to be done
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions
- Must provide personal tools
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds occasionally throughout shift (approx. 15% of shift)
- Able to be on feet, tolerate excessive walking; stair and ladder climbing; and tolerate heights (approx. 60% of time)
- Frequent bending throughout shift
- Able to shovel materials into hoppers
- Must be able to wear required PPE
- Able to tolerate extreme weather conditions; working outside
Training Period:
- Minimum 90 days meeting all above requirements; up to two years
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.96 - $26.15 per hour
