Job Title: Medical Director, Psychiatry

Supervisor: Chief Operating Officer
Schedule: Part Time, ~16 hours/week
Summary of Major Functions:
Carry out job duties as Medical Director of Psychiatry for EDCare. Provide leadership to ensure that psychiatric practices meet professional standards and the needs of EDCare patients across all sites. Provide psychiatric care to EDCare patients.
Medical Director Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
- Establishes practice standards of excellence for all psychiatric LIPs and ensures that these standards are being met across all sites.
- Supports EDCare's psychiatric excellence by providing, conducting, and reporting on current trends in the medical treatment of eating disorders.
- Ensures that EDCare services are compliant with all applicable contractual and regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Perform Clinical Case reviews in conjunction with Clinical and Quality departments.
- Develops targeted education and training for, and provides psychiatric guidance, to LIPs and staff.
- Promotes growth of EDCare by raising the company’s visibility (through publications, interviews, media contacts, speaking, etc.).
- Is the liaison and collaborates with referral organizations to maintain and encourage patient referrals.
- Interfaces effectively and timely with clinical personnel, answering questions and available for communications and emergencies.
- Creates psychiatric-specific protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Training of the psychiatric staff when needed.
- Other job duties as reasonably assigned.
Management Responsibilities:
- Maintain a schedule (PTO requests, time off, etc.) that ensures appropriate staffing coverage for all Denver psychiatric LIPs.
- Completes psychiatric performance reviews in a timely manner.
- Actively works with human resources in the hiring process (reviewing resumes, interviewing, and decision-making).
- Attend and participate in EDCare’s quarterly Board of Managers meetings as requested by the CEO.
- Actively works with EDCare leaders to establish, monitor, and report on quality measures.
- Understands that management’s ultimate goals must be the profitability, clinical effectiveness, and the overall success of EDCare as a business.
- Actively communicate and collaborate with other EDCare clinical leaders and management in establishing and maintaining appropriate clinical standards.
Psychiatric Coverage Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides knowledgeable and thorough psychiatric coverage to patients accepted for treatment at EDCare.
- Is available to staff and treatment teams for questions, communications, and emergencies.
- Available to the Admissions Assessment Clinicians for new admissions for psychiatric/ medical assessments.
- Coordinates psychiatry coverage with other EDCare psychiatric Providers to ensure appropriate clinical coverage of EDCare services.
- Actively participates in call responsibilities, as needed and mutually agreed upon with the Denver Clinical Director.
Psycho-Pharmacology
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of appropriate psychotropic medications.
- Provides patient education regarding side-effects and efficacy.
- Regularly monitors prescribed medications for assigned patients (minimum of every 3 months).
Res, PHP, IOP-Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry
- Demonstrates ability to provide comprehensive and ongoing assessment, resulting in appropriate treatment and timely discharge.
- Coordinates psychiatric care with Licensed Independent Practitioners inside and outside of EDCare.
- Makes referrals to other providers/resources as indicated, including individual therapist, nutritionist, PCP, Family therapist, group, etc.
- Creates individualized psychiatric treatment plans with appropriate outpatient goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of clinical interviewing/counseling skills (Individuals, Couples, and Families).
- Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport.
- Timely completion and accuracy of clinical documentation, including treatment plan updates, progress notes, etc.
- Maintains relationships and professional credentialing with provider panels.
- When necessary, conduct UR in a timely fashion to ensure the appropriate level of treatment.
- Compliance with all EDCare policies and procedures.
- Compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to EDCare.
- At EDCare’s expense, obtain licensure in strategic markets as determined by the COO.
- Other job duties as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO Degree required
- Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in Colorado required.
- Board certified or Board Eligible required.
- Prescriptive Authority certification required
- Leadership experience in similar roles and/or demonstrated ability to care for the spectrum of ED patients required.
- Good oral and written communication skills required.
Computer Skills:
- Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
- Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.
Physical Demands and Environment:
Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using computer keyboards. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally.
Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:
99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
Salary : $100 - $150
