POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title:
Assistant Teacher- ECEAP
Direct Supervisor:
Director of ECEAP & Community Partnerships
The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) Assistant Teacher works under the
direct supervision of the Lead Teacher to provide an early childhood education program for a group of
three and four-year-old children in compliance with child care licensing and ECEAP Performance
Standards.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Assist the Lead Teacher in the development of appropriate indoor and outdoor environments.
B. Observe and document children’s development.
C. Implement and supervise developmentally appropriate activities.
D. Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
E. Support children’s social and emotional development by using positive guidance methods and building strong
relationships in the classroom.
F. Prepare, serve, and clean up meals.
G. Ensure the health and safety of children at all times.
H. Assist children with routine hygiene needs.
I. Maintain an orderly, healthy, and safe environment. This includes general housekeeping tasks such as
cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, sweeping, and picking up toys and materials.
J. Assist in maintaining all required records in an accurate and timely manner.
Other Job Functions:
A. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
1. The equivalent of 12 college quarter credits in early childhood education, OR
a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Early
Childhood Professional Recognition.
2. 30-Hour Basic Child Care Training, may be obtained during first month of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. A.A. or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field.
2. Experience working in ECEAP and/or Head Start programs.
3. Experience with low-income families.

1. Ability to work with minimal direction from supervisor.
2. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with children and families.

State Patrol clearance, and vaccination requirements.
3. Hold current Food Handler’s Card and First Aid/CPR card.
