Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and assessments of patients in the medical/surgical unit.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
- Assist with specimen collection and processing for laboratory tests.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding health management and post-operative care.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities by understanding their unique needs and providing appropriate care.
- Utilize basic life support techniques when necessary to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital policies.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in medical/surgical nursing, is preferred.
- Proficiency in performing laboratory procedures related to specimen collection processing.
- Ability to effectively ventilate patients when required, demonstrating knowledge of respiratory care techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities.
