Work location : 2128 Highway 39 North, Meridian, MS

Job Type : Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Hours: Normal work shift for this position is 8 hours daily, Monday-Friday.

East MS EPA is an EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for providing technical support by testing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment used throughout the distribution system and substations.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine inspections of substation and distribution system equipment where device readings will be recorded, and equipment will be inspected for existing and potential failures. Ensure that distribution system power quality is maintained by analyzing system readings to make sure equipment is operating as intended.
• Make setting changes to controls for regulators, electronic breakers, and capacitors.
• Lead crews when installing and putting into operation voltage regulators, electronic circuit breakers, and switched capacitor banks.
• Perform system maintenance by testing, maintaining, and repairing voltage regulators, electronic circuit breakers, OCRs, capacitor bank systems, transformers, and other electrical equipment used throughout the distribution system and substations.
• Assist in trouble calls and outages involving transformers, OCRs, regulators, breakers, and other equipment.
• Participate on the Spill Response Team that is responsible for oil spill prevention, containment, and cleanup.
• Utilizes mobile radio and mobile phone for communications.
• Assists in outage situations and emergency storm support.
• Assist in damage assessment, line patrol, documentation, and crew coordination.
• Perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Association.
• Functions performed by all EMEPA Employees: Keeps informed and complies with all EMEPA policies, procedures, and rules. Participates in Job Safety and Training. Complies with all EMEPA safety rules and regulations. Exercises reasonable care in the use and security of all EMEPA assets. Comply with all traffic laws and regulations while operating a company vehicle. Makes every effort to serve members courteously and efficiently, to respond to their inquiries, satisfy their complaints and if unable to do so, refer them to the proper people. Makes every effort to develop member's support. Keeps supervisor informed of all activities and advising of unusual situations or problems that arise. Cooperates with all employees in maintaining good working relationships and high morale, exchanges ideas, information, and job experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma/equivalent, required. Industrial/Electrical Technology Certificate or equivalent, preferred.

High School Diploma requires three years of current and relevant experience in an industrial/electrical field, or equivalent. One year of the same experience is required with an Industrial/Electrical Technology Certificate.

Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have and maintain an insurable driving record.

Must be able to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Must be able to complete a variety of activities which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to details.

Must be able to operate assigned equipment including forklift, truck, trailer, line truck and hoist, hand tools, chain saw and extendo stick. Must be able to operate personal computers, PC test equipment, air compressor, oil system, ground rod driver, multi-meter, and steam cleaner.

Irregular and long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required. Must be willing to travel to district offices and off system which may include overnight stays, nights, weekends, and holidays to work storms, and attend meetings, training and schools deemed necessary to enhance job skills. Must be available during emergency and storm conditions.

Successfully complete a pre-employment physical, drug, and alcohol screen and E-Verification.
