Job Summary:
The Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering products to vendors within the Chicagoland area, utilizing either our half-ton or one-ton truck, while ensuring that deliveries are made in a timely and professional manner. This position also involves shipping and receiving tasks, as well as some basic maintenance duties to keep warehouse operations running smoothly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely load and unload parcels from the delivery vehicle, ensuring all items are properly secured for transportation.
- Deliver packages to customers at the correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt as required.
- Maintain and monitor the delivery vehicle, performing basic service checks and following the vehicle maintenance schedule, reporting significant mechanical issues or service needs to the supervisor.
- Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including checking inventory, preparing outgoing shipments, and organizing incoming goods.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and safe by performing routine organization tasks and handling goods appropriately.
- Support light maintenance duties as needed
- Maintain accurate logs and records of deliveries, including mileage, time, and any delivery-related issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in using navigation tools such as GPS, smartphone apps, and traditional maps to plan and follow efficient delivery routes.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accurate delivery and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with vendors, supervisors, and other team members professionally.
Education and Experience:
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- Prior experience in delivery is preferred but not required.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred but not required.
- Maintenance or construction experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry packages of varying sizes and weights.
- Ability to load and unload packages, with and without dollies, in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving, with periodic breaks as needed.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical tasks related to loading, unloading, and organizing packages.
- Ability to follow safety protocols while handling tools and performing maintenance duties.
