Job Purpose
The general music teacher position is specifically for our pre-school age Lil Peeps Program. The teacher educates and coordinates the Lil Peeps (ages 3-K) music program according to standards, guidelines and detailed curriculum provided by Elevate Rock School – Lake Norman while maintaining a positive culture in each and every class. Hours per week range from 8-10 hours 2-3 days/week.
This position includes teaching Lil Peeps classes as well as representing our school as the Front Desk Receptionist providing great customer service to our families and students.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Lil Peeps teacher must have experience with pre-schoolers and a passion for inspiring these little ones through music. The Front Desk Receptionist must have experience with customer service, ability to communicate effectively both in-person and via email with all types of customers as well as attention to detail for administrative duties and data-entry.
Lil Peeps teacher/Front Desk Reception performs a wide range of duties including the following:
Lil Peeps Teacher
- Create new ways to challenge students and connect with each student
- Teach using established lessons plans & curriculum according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the group of student and groups
- Maintain good order and discipline amongst students while safeguarding their health and safety at all times
- Make classes energetic & fun and connect with each student every day
- Utilize a paid, 15-30 minute, prep time to prep and review the provided weekly lesson curriculum
- Coordinate communication for Lil Peeps with parents
- Coordinate, plan and execute Lil Peeps portion of live concerts including coordination with teachers, parents and all communication pertaining to Lil Peeps portion of concerts.
- Communicate with other members of the school staff to ensure the best interest of students and to ensure the effective and efficient program success
Front Desk Receptionist
- Greet students & parents, answer student/parent questions related to lessons and enrollment at the Front Desk.
- Answer phone calls and respond to emails/SMS messages promptly
- Manage data entry regarding student enrollment, rock band organization, etc.
- Perform misc. administrative duties as needed during front desk shift.
Other:
- Possible opportunity to teach other instruments for the Rock Band Program when needed (instruments based on depth of knowledge on particular instruments)
- Participate in staff, group or other meetings related to the school for the better organization and administration of the school
- Ensure the adequate maintenance of equipment in your lesson room
- Participate in organization, set-up and implementation of performances and concerts
- Monitor the attendance of students and communicate with parents on a regular basis
Qualifications
Education: University degree in a related subject preferred, but not required
- Knowledge, skills and abilities: Passion for and significant experience with preschoolers and early elementary age students
- Solid knowledge of music, music theory
- Ability/interest in learning the fundamentals of new instruments
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive and encouraging demeanor
- Performance experience preferred
- Proficiency in: Excel, E-mail, Internet,

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
