3rd Shift Tool and Die Set Up/Machinist

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to perform/assist department personnel with standard duties to ensure that production needs are being met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES OF MACHINIST/TOOL & DIE SET UP

• Duties and assignments as required by leadership.
• Safe and Efficient Operation of Equipment to meet the needs (Quality, Cost, Delivery) of both the Internal and External Customers. This includes maintaining all Extrusion tooling for Safety and function. Inspect, clean, repair and inventory
• Maintain liner inventory and coordinate with vendors on cleaning and delivery.
• Fill-in throughout the Hot Process department as a utility operator.
• Perform Total Productive Reliability and 5S Tasks
• Perform Administrative Task (i.e. SAP, Production Logs, other as assigned
• Perform Maintenance on Press Repair and related equipment as assigned
• Assist the Extrusion Crew with Tooling and Equipment Changeovers as needed
• Operation of Industrial Equipment (Forklifts, Crane, Hand Carts, Industrial Tools, Etc.).
• Understand and Maintain Inventory Control Systems (Kan Ban, Vendor Controlled Consumables)
• Perform machine set ups and product changeovers per production schedule
• Ability to adjust feed and settings as necessary
• Interprets drawings and plans work in proper operational sequence
• Perform daily inspections of equipment and maintain housekeeping expectations (5S)
• Accurately maintain inventory control systems and accurately maintain lot traceability of product throughout the value stream
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED preferred, not required
• Able to use measuring tools and perform basic math required
• 3 – 5 years manufacturing experience
• Previous work experience within the department/metals manufacturing is a plus
• Required to maintain licenses on crane and forklifts
• CNC and machining skills Computer skills required include working knowledge of MS Works and Excel as well as advanced AutoCAD skills
• Additional requirements include good communication skills, both verbal and written, a safe work history, and strong work ethics
• This position requires mental stability, ability to handle stress, get along with and work well with others, ability to work independently, regular, and predictable attendance, ability to stay awake, ability to work full-time and overtime
