Essential Functions
- Monitors, reviews and processes incoming claims faxes, mail and email
- Indexes documents, such as medical records, bills, and other correspondence into appropriate claim file per established standards
- Categorizes faxes, mail and emails within a timely manner
- Seeks guidance from supervisor regarding handling of unidentifiable correspondence.
- Separates documents following established procedures
- Sets up new losses according to EMC best practices
- Monitors, reviews and sets up new losses accurately and independently by following established protocols
- Uses guides and training to ensure claim is set up and/or verify claims are set up under appropriate policy and accounts
- Escalates subpoenas and lawsuits to people leaders as appropriate
- Assists claims adjusters and people leaders as appropriate
- Assist claims adjusters as needed, including document gathering, sending documents to state bureaus, requesting updated documents, and updating exposures
- Issues payments within authority per claims guidelines, typically up to $500
- Trains team members on jurisdictional documents
- Assists with special projects as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Experience with mail and filing preferred
- Knowledge of insurance and claims terminology preferred
- Good computer skills
- Accurate data entry skills
- Ability to file alpha and numeric information
- Excellent communication and human relations skills
- Strong organizational and excellent customer service skills
