Broad Function

Emek Hebrew Academy is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for students from diverse Jewish backgrounds, encompassing various levels of observance and commitment. The ideal candidate for this position is a knowledgeable, passionate, and compassionate educator with expertise in Torah studies and the skills outlined below.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong pedagogical foundation, effective classroom management skills, and a growth mindset. The ability to collaborate effectively with parents, colleagues, and students in a clear and positive manner is essential.

Emek educators serve as role models who inspire students with a love of Torah and mitzvot. Building meaningful relationships with students is at the heart of this role. An Emek Rebbe / Morah contributes significantly to creating a community of lifelong learners through dedication both inside and outside the classroom.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Teach core Torah curricular subjects , including :
  • Kriah : Hebrew reading review and reinforcement

  • K’siva : Hebrew cursive writing
  • Chumash : Using the Lhavin Ulehaskim curriculum
  • Chagim / Parsha / Middos / Navi / Yedios Klalios
  • Foster a positive, safe physical and emotional environment for students through effective classroom management.
  • Support students’ social-emotional and identity development with consistent, thoughtful classroom practices.
  • Adapt teaching to address individual students’ learning interests, strengths, and needs.
  • Complete lesson plans, curricular maps, student forms, grade reports, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and carpool times.
  • Provide classroom coverage as a substitute when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Extra-Curricular Responsibilities

    Participation in school events as assigned by the Head of School or Principal, including :

  • Staff meetings
  • Open House events
  • Student performances (on and off-campus)
  • Parent meetings
  • School trips, including day and overnight trips
  • Education & Requirements

  • Teaching or Rabbinical degree (or equivalent)
  • 1–2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with technology systems, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other educational platforms
