What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Intern position at Emerald Data?
Summary of the role:
As an important member of Emerald Data Partners, the Technical Intern is on the front lines of our customer service. This is a temporary entry-level computer technician designed for people looking to try out the IT field. The Technical Intern's number one drive is to obtain results followed by an intense desire to learn new things.
Duration: Approximately three months
The work:
- Hours for this position are flexible but range from 20 to 40 hours per week, based on the successful applicant's needs, including schooling schedules.
- Assist the team with troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of computer systems, software applications, and network infrastructure.
- Work as a team in a fast-paced environment, remotely troubleshooting technical issues and processing user requests.
- Document and update technical procedures and knowledge base articles.
- Use remote support software and remote monitoring and management software.
- Conduct research into desktop issues, network issues and hardware and software products as required.
- Spend time training and remain up to date with technology trends.
- Work 85% of all hours at our offices with the other 15% spent onsite at clients or training.
The person:
- Working towards Associate's degree or equivalent in an IT related field is a plus, but relevant experience is okay too.
- Comfortable working in a team environment, completing tasks, and sharing knowledge.
- Ideal candidate is working towards or has already obtained an A certification.
- Additional certifications and experience will be considered supportive for higher starting pay.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks
- Experience with hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Must be able to help nontechnical people understand the use of equipment and software. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. No, you cannot lack interpersonal skills if you have stellar technical skills!
- Strong desire to learn new things, and write and follow documentation
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong phone, customer service skills, as well as follow-up skills
- Ability to pass a fingerprint based criminal background check and no arrests
