Encircle: LGBTQ Family & Youth Resource Center is Hiring a Controller Near Salt Lake City, UT

The Finance Controller is a mid-level management role that manages all of the accounting functions of the Encircle organization. You will perform direct analysis and reporting of financial information including budgets, planning, and required filings and reports, presenting findings and recommendations to management. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).We are looking for someone based in Utah, with the ability to work remotely, as well as visit the Encircle homes regularly. Encircle offers health, dental, and vision insurance, including a base medical/dental coverage option with fully employer paid premiums. We also offer 14 paid holidays and 15 days of paid vacation. 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the finance team, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual finances; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the organization’s performance, and to calculate financial and operating metrics
  • Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management
  • Calculate variances from budget and report significant issues to CEO. In conjunction with leadership, guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
  • Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and employment negotiations
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
  • Files quarterly and annual reports
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related degree required
  • Ten years or more of related experience preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
