We are looking for an experienced, Wisconsin DMV licensed Driver's Education Instructor who is passionate about teaching and mentoring students to join our team at our residential trade and education center.
FULL-TIME, FLEXIBLE HOURS.
Job Summary: Develop students’ driving skills and knowledge of driving responsibilities through implementing approved curriculum; addressing students’ specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students and staff regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and activities.
Duties include:
- Review with each student who does not already possess a license, the steps necessary to attain a license; and document these steps.
- Make every effort to provide an opportunity for all students to obtain their basic driver’s license prior to graduation.
- Assesses students' skills, knowledge and/or abilities pertaining to driving (e.g. driving skills, related knowledge, progress, expectations, goals, insurance, etc.).
- Collaborates with a variety of parties (e.g. student, counselor, parents of minors, various community agencies, etc.) for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.
- Prepare appropriate documentation for the purpose of obtaining appropriate items’ to promote student progress in the driver’s education program. (E.g. permits and licenses).
- Coordinates the driver’s education program (e.g. components, support needs, materials, equipment/supplies, teaching strategies, reserving space, driving range setup, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items while meeting state guidelines.
- Instructs students (e.g. car control, defensive driving strategies, handling emergencies, driving in adverse conditions, auto safety, etc.) for the purpose of developing driving skills and knowledge pertaining to rules of the road.
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment.
- Oversees designated driver’s education (GSA) automobile (e.g. gasoline, insurance, appropriate breaks, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring vehicle(s) is maintained in appropriate order and compliant with established rules and regulation.
- Prepares teaching materials, documents and a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, pass/fail reports, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress while providing necessary information to appropriate parties.
- Schedules students for driver’s training for the purpose of providing appropriate time and/or schedule for drivers training.
- Ensuring high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of the assigned subject matter.
Experience: Five years’ experience preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent and must have held a valid driver’s license for at least 5 years. Bachelor’s degree preferred unless required by state requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver’s License/Evidence of Insurability and Defensive Driving Certificate. Licensure as a certified driver education instructor in the state. Wisconsin DMV licensed driver's education instructor.
