Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress towards educational goals.
  • Utilize adaptive teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
  • Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills as needed.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
  • Work closely with school administrators and support staff to facilitate services.
  • Implement behavioral intervention strategies to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Organize and participate in professional development and training.
  • Advocate for resources and support services for students with disabilities.
  • Incorporate technology and multimedia tools into lesson plans.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Stay informed on best practices and legal requirements in special education.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • State certification or licensure in Special Education.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children with disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of learning disabilities and special education laws.
  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs effectively.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and assistive devices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing educational needs.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
  • Experience collaborating with families and community resources.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management techniques.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
