POSITION TITLE : Legal Assistant
REPORTS TO : Staff Attorney
LOCATION : Chicago, IL
HOURS PER WEEK : 40 - ELPC offers a hybrid work environment.
JOB SUMMARY :
The Legal Assistant is part of a two-person team at our downtown Chicago headquarters, providing crucial support to about 13 of ELPC’s talented public interest attorneys.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the paralegal, provide administrative, research, filing and technical assistance to the attorney team in a fast-paced, mission driven environment. Specific duties include :
- Typing, editing and preparing of documents for filing, including :
proofreading, cite checking, formatting, researching court rules, producing tables of contents and authorities, assembling exhibit lists, etc.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Some evening and weekend hours required during peak times and events.
COMPENSATION :
45,000 - $53,000 annually (based on a 40-hour workweek) attractive benefits including a high deductible health plan, dental and vision insurance, vacation and sick days, free gym membership and a 4 -12% 403b employer contribution / match.
