Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable AP Environmental Science (APES) tutor to lead after-school or Saturday tutoring sessions for high school students preparing for the AP Environmental Science exam. This position offers the opportunity to work with a small group of motivated students (10-15 per session) in a supportive and focused learning environment. Sessions will begin in March and run once per week for 1-2 hours each session.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, effective tutoring sessions designed to reinforce key concepts and skills from the AP Environmental Science curriculum.
- Utilize your own study materials or collaborate to identify and acquire additional resources, if needed.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment that encourages participation and inquiry.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to help students build confidence and improve their understanding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or working towards) or higher in Environmental Science, Biology, Earth Science, or a related field (teaching certification preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of the AP Environmental Science curriculum and exam structure.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring high school students, particularly in a small-group setting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Schedule and Compensation
- Sessions will be held once per week, either after school or on Saturdays, starting in March.
- Each session will be 1-2 hours, with a total of 10-15 students per session.
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
