POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible, under the direct supervision of the Regional Controller, for accurate and timely financial reporting. The primary responsibilities include the completion of the monthly close process and generation of financial statements, assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, coordination of risk management and internal controls and assist with the annual audit with KPMG. The Assistant Controller will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures that identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes efficient and accurate.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements Including Analytical Review
    • Review and record journal entries required to reflect monthly activity
    • Ensure proper month-end close process to ensure accuracy of accounting records
    • Preparation of workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances
    • Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of monthly account reconciliations
    • Balance inter-company balances with EQD Corporate
  • Assist Regional Controller with preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Analytical review of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective
  •  Support the month-end business review process with value added information & analysis
  • Communication as necessary to answer questions and inform business partners concerning financial performance and business issues
  • Work with Regional Controller and Director of Shared Services to implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
  •  Work with the Regional Controller and Director of Shared Services to implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles and ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Assist in successful management of the annual audit process with external auditors
  • Prepare weekly cash projections to effectively enable the enhancement of cash flows and minimize cash balances
  • Supervise employees in a Shared Services Environment, as deemed necessary, ensuring accurate and timely reporting for the organization as a whole
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting

Certification: CPA preferred, but not required

Experience: Three years in accounting and finance sector

    • Ability to deliver clear and concise written and verbal communication of results.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate with people operating at all levels of the company in a variety of situations
    • Exceptional computer skills in the operation of all programs used by the organization including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
