Neighbors Credit Union is Hiring a Home Equity Loan Specialist Near Saint Louis, MO

Summary of position: Be a brand ambassador and allow the mission, vision and service standards established by Neighbors Credit Union guide you in everything you do. Primary Function: To originate, process, and close all second mortgage products including closed-end 2nd mortgages, home equity lines of credit & bridge loans. This is a production position and success will be measured based on the originator's ability to achieve volume expectations, close loans according to service and timeline requirements, and provide superior member experiences. In addition, this role will be expected to have a thorough understanding of other credit union products and services to ensure they are able to offer appropriate services to members including the sales of credit cards, checking, and other consumer lending products. Accuracy in documenting the mortgage application consistent with Credit Union policy and procedures as well as a full understanding of all regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Works with members to counsel, originate, process, and close their home equity loan.
•Ensures all loans are documented according to stipulations outlined during the underwriting process and according to all internal policies & procedures
•Efficiently manage the pipeline to ensure consistent communication with members and staff
•Be knowledgeable on relevant credit union services and cross-sell appropriately consistent with established goals.
•Provide exceptional member service consistent with service level expectations
•Work with external vendors who may provide outside services such as appraisals, title opinions, flood determination services, etc.
•Read and clear all title issues
•Ensures all deeds are correctly recorded and payoffs are delivered to confirm expected lien position.
•Performs other duties as assigned

•Work with the internal auditor to ensure compliance with internal controls.
Requirements
Experience:
•Minimum of one year prior Real Estate loan experience in a credit union or other financial institution
Education:
•High school diploma or equivalent
Skills:
•A thorough understanding of mortgage-related regulatory requirements
•A thorough understanding of mortgage-related risks
•A thorough understanding of appraisal requirements and understanding of the factors that go into determining property values
•A thorough understanding of title opinions and lien positions as well as how to satisfy prior liens
•An understanding of basic loan underwriting requirements
•Thorough knowledge/command of the English language (ie: punctuation and grammar)
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required and overall origination systems.
•Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
•Exceptional organizational skills to ensure timely pipeline management
•The ability to embrace technology solutions and implement new solutions to streamline processes.
•Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements
•Must present themselves in a professional manner at all times
•Must keep all credit union businesses strictly confidential
Physical Requirements:
While performing the job duties, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods. Must be able to operate a computer and other office equipment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The ability to lift items weighing 20 pounds is required. Must be able to travel from branch to branch every week and be able to work more than forty hours when needed. Must be able to speak clearly and see clearly with reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to changes in climate and temperature. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Local travel is required for this position.

Schedule
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday with some rotating half day Saturdays.
