Every Child's Hope (ECH) is seeking a dedicated Life Skills Coordinator to provide crucial support to youth ages 16-21 in our transitional living program. What You'll Do:
- Empathetic Guidance: Demonstrate courtesy, empathy, and tact in all interactions with clients, families, and team members.
- Confidential Support: Maintain strict confidentiality with all client information.
- Collaborative Efforts: Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings.
- Thorough Assessments: Complete initial intake assessments and annual credit checks, and provide ongoing support as needed.
- Community Coordination: Facilitate service coordination with landlords, public assistance, and other providers.
- Life Skills Education: Teach daily life skills and plan/implement independent living classes and meetings.
- Vocational and Educational Counseling: Assist youth in developing educational and vocational plans, including FAFSA, ETV, and college applications.
- Job Readiness: Help youth develop resumes, fill out job applications, and prepare for interviews.
- Crisis Support: Provide assistance during crises or emergencies and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Program Oversight: Manage NYTD Chafee expenditures, oversee the Youth Board, and assist with Apartment Checks and IDA program.
- On-Call Support: Provide on-call coverage in rotation with peers and assist during staff shortages.
- Continuous Improvement: Maintain agency standards for continuing education and training, ensuring trauma-informed care.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field.
- Experience: Preferably two years of experience working with adolescents and young adults.
- Role Model: Exhibit good moral character and serve as a positive role model for youth.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in computer use, including email, word processing, and database systems.
- Licensed to Drive: Valid Driver’s License and insurable by the agency.
