Description
As a Floor Attendant your main responsibility is maintaining a safe and clean fitness environment. Primary duties include greeting members, monitoring equipment usage, enforcing fitness policies, assisting with basic equipment operation, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise on the fitness floor, all while providing excellent customer service to members.
This position is part-time and averages 20-25 hours per week. MUST BE FLEXIBLE.
The hours are as follows: Mondays - Fridays 5:30am - 9:30am; Mondays – Thursdays 4pm – 8:30pm; Sundays 8am – 5pm.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide essential customer service to ensure member satisfaction and member appreciation. Greeting all members and guests on the floor, answering questions, providing guidance on equipment use, and addressing concerns.
2. Maintain current knowledge about all programs, services and activities offered at the JCC Fitness Center to promote these services and assist members with inquiries about these areas.
3. Serve as a liaison between members and staff by communicating member concerns, suggestions, and complaints to the proper supervisor.
4. Maintaining a clean and safe environment by actively monitoring the facility constantly and addressing any safety or cleanliness issues immediately.
5. Enforcing fitness rules including but not limited to equipment usage, guest policies, and proper attire.
6. Prepared to handle any emergencies and report to the proper supervisor.
7. Maintaining and reporting any equipment in need of a working order.
Physical Demands
In addition to their primary responsibilities, employee will be required to be on their feet for the entirety of the shift, be able to successfully demonstrate exercises, and keep the fitness center organized and clean. Employees must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs to successfully re-rack weights, plates, and other equipment. The employee will also have frequent interactions with cleaning products including but not limited to wipes and disinfectant spray.
AGENCY EXPECTATIONS
1. Attend all staff meetings and gatherings.
2. Participate in agency in-service trainings and programs.
3. Provide administrative support for agency events.
4. Provide administrative support for other areas of the agency when needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in customer service preferred or in a related field.
Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively interact professionally with all levels of internal and external personnel.
Current and broad knowledge of fitness equipment
Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Deadline/task oriented – sense of urgency
High energy, proactive, requiring little direction, takes responsibility.
Team oriented.
Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain an enthusiastic and professional demeanor while effectively and tactfully dealing with member and guest complaints and concerns.
A willingness to perform job tasks not part of immediate job responsibilities but aids in member satisfaction and getting the job done.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Proficient in Salesforce is preferred
