Summary:

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager, Materials Management coordinates the procurement of all goods and services for the organization consistent with quality, service, availability and favorable pricing. Conducts purchasing needs analysis with the hospital team, develops purchasing arrangements, which are communicated to departments. Initiates and maintains outside vendor contracts to evaluate pricing terms, arrange quantity discounts, negotiate contracts, solicit bids and maintain adherence to product quality standards. Makes formal recommendations on capital expenditures. Responsible for all facets of inventory control including taking periodic inventory as directed and maintaining stock records. Receives, stores and issues materials, supplies and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and develops policies, procedures and standards for procurement.
  • Monitors performance of the materials management systems by reviewing reports of purchasing, warehousing and inventory activity.
  • Directs the preparation of the supplies budget for all service units in the medical center and analyzes expenditure patterns and usage trends.
  • Directs and evaluates performance of staff responsible for the preparation of vendor agreements.
  • Makes hiring and termination decisions of supervised staff.
  • Establishes and implements controls to ensure appropriate submission, billing and payment cycles.
  • Ensures accurate and timely billing occurs in accordance with established procedure and third-party requirements.

  • Ensures that materials management employees receive training and education necessary to perform their job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.

Education

Associates degree or equivalent experience.


License/Certification

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification through the American Heart Association.Must maintain certification throughout employment.

Minimum 1 yr. experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Participates in or conducts company-wide sponsored training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of patients protected health information.Monitors and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, state and federal regulations and Accreditation Standards.

  • Consistently follows departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures.
  • HIPAA: Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality. Able to identify patient confidentiality issues and reports to proper hospital personnel immediately.
  • Compliance: Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with standards set forth in Code of Conduct, policy and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable standards.
