Position Summary:
The Engineer, Network Automation will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the networking systems for automated utility, processing, filling, inspection and packaging equipment. The system utilized will be PLC, SCADA, PC, Servers, Cisco switches and databases.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform system administration (access control, software revision control, back-up and recovery), and troubleshooting for malfunctioning systems
- Responsible for specifying control system and control system documentation requirements for new systems
- Responsible for reviewing functional specifications for both hardware and software for new automated utility, process, filling, and packaging and inspection equipment
- Prepare a preferred vendor list for control system hardware
- Generate user requirement specifications for control systems
- Define requirements for vendor design documentation
- Review vendor automation design documentation (FRS, DDS, requirements traceability matrix, code and logic, etc.)
- Provide support for engineering and design of automated systems tied to automation network
- Review and write qualification protocols of automated Network systems
- Support the execution of the qualification of automated control systems
- Walk down control panel drawings
- Understand PLC based controllers and functionality
- Prepare risk assessments for automated Network systems
- Prepare Change Controls associated with changes to control systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Responsible for maintaining, configuring Wonderware and PI historian servers
- Responsible for configuring and maintaining automation network cisco switches
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and understand electrical control system diagrams (control panel wiring diagrams, loop drawings, panel layout drawings and schedules, etc.).
- Comfortable walking down control system diagrams and red lining them to reflect as-built conditions.
- Ability to specify and troubleshooting instrumentation
- Detail Oriented
- Highly Organized
- Able to perform complex assessments for computer systems against current industry compliance requirements
- Ability to understand and configure network switches using NAT translation
- Ability to understand feedback of Input / Output control sequence
- Basic understanding of PLC logic and communication protocols
- Create and modify sequel servers and databases as well as networking is preferred
- Confident in configuring Excel spreadsheet, spreadsheet functions and automated calculations
- Familiarity with current industry practices and guidelines including those required / outlined by the FDA, ISO, EU and ICH.
- Understand 21 CFR Part 11, cGAMP, and other regulatory guidance associated with computer / automation-based systems
- Auto CAD and networking experience a plus, but not a requirement
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
