Eye Site of Tampa Bay is looking for an experienced Ophthalmic Technician (certification as COA through JCAHPO preferred) to serve in a working supervisory role as Chief Technician. Ideal candidate will have three (3) or more years experience, excellent customer service skills, be motivated by clinical excellence, function as a team player with a positive attitude, lead by example and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Two office locations (Clearwater and Trinity, FL). Full-time, M-F, EOE, background check and drug testing.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform as a valued, key team member by assisting providers and administration in maintaining clinical excellence through leadership and training of technician team.
- Lead by example in being postive, proactive and professional in all duties.
- Organize and prioritize tasks and workflow efficiently.
- Create monthly clinical schedule, supporting all provider clinics in two offices.
- Review daily patient schedules to make appropriate staffing adjustments, and communicate to all team members. Monitor workflow throughout the day, making adjustments for optimal physician workflow.
- Maintain continuous training of technician staff to improve skills and understanding of Ophthalmology/Optometry.
- Diplomatically address staff issues to improve individual knowledge and clinical workflow performance for positive outcome and staff retention.
- Onboard new hires and be continuously involved in monitoring progress for consistency and quickest independence through completing Skill Sign-Offs, and maintaining/updating Clinical Skills Achievement Board.
- Conduct regular technician staff meetings, as well as annual refresher training.
- Perform all work-up, testing and refracting skills with accuracy and efficiency, seeing 4-6 patients per hour.
- Maintain clinical equipment in excellent working condition through resource vendors.
- Make certain clinical supplies are maintained through team duty assignment.
- Maintain responsibility for staff retention through personal efforts in creating harmony between providers and staff by building relationships and cultivating a positive culture.
- Lead by example through excellence in attendance, dependability and ownership of Chief Technician position.
