What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work to Existing - Patching Foreman position at Fabcon Precast?
Purpose/Scope:
To supervise field crew and to provide general construction labor tasks focused on the renovation, maintenance, repair, and restoration of existing structures. The W2E Foreperson will be the principal onsite contact and representative for all W2E field operations. The successful candidate will possess technical expertise, strong leadership abilities, and an aptitude for customer service. All work to be performed to the utmost standards of safety, quality, customer service, and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all site activities directly with general contractors, construction managers, owner’s representatives, and other tradesmen to ensure field activities are performed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Ensures all established safety policies are followed
- Provide work direction and oversight for W2E crew
- Ensures project schedule and budgets are maintained per the direction of the W2E Project Manager. Daily reporting to the W2E Project Manager as required.
- Communicate and coordinate with engineering and design resources directly as needed to resolve site discrepancies and conflicts
- Provide technical leadership to field crew and ensure work is performed in compliance with construction documents.
- Manage all onsite equipment and tools including all periodic inspections
- Completes general construction labor tasks necessary to service existing precast concrete, site-cast/tilt-up concrete, or masonry buildings.
Basic Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with concrete cutting
Other Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
- Ability to work from ladders and aerial work platforms above 20 ft
- Ability to travel extensively (50% of the time or more, including overnights) and work overtime as needed
- Ability to obtain membership to local Bricklayer’s union
- Familiar with mobile technology: able to send/receive emails, pictures, and other information from a tablet and/or mobile phone
- Knowledgeable about all aspects of structural concrete construction
- Ability to plan ahead for potential problems, and take corrective action before a problem occurs
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to work in an organized manner
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and construction documents
- Ability to, or knowledge of welding; familiarity with general construction practices
- Ability to use construction mensuration equipment (transits, levels, and laser levels)
- Possess outstanding work habits and demonstrates them to subordinates
- Adapts readily to change
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of general construction experience
- 3 years working with precast or site-cast/tilt-up concrete wall construction or structural steel erection
- 2 years’ experience concrete cutting
- Welding certification
- Concrete repair & patching experience
- Caulking experience
- OSHA 30 hour certification
Physical Requirements:
- Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer
Work Environment:
- Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
