Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier for marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. Through the years the company has emerged into an internationally recognized organization with extensive expertise in marine design/engineering and manufacturing of critical shipboard systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a Mechanical Drafter. This position would directly support the engineering team in day-to-day activities to ensure work progresses on schedule and with high quality. Essential Job Functions:
- Generate models and drawings for mechanical assemblies and components.
- Interface with engineering team and operations personnel to ensure accurate drawings are available for machining, assembly, and vendor needs.
- Information management and data entry tasks associated with generation and tracking of new and revised drawings.
- Support in maintenance and improvement of policies and procedures associated with drafting functions.
- Perform related duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Educational Requirements
- Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering or in the relevant engineering field.
- 1-5 Years in 3D modeling and 2D drafting position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, solid modeling, technical drawing preparation, and dimensioning an tolerancing are required.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, weld processes, machining or CNC programing.
- Demonstrable experience with development of complex mechanical models and corresponding drawings.
- Familiarity with a mechanical / fabrication environments
- Must possess a high level of verbal and written communications skills along with interpersonal skills.
- Excellent professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Ability to work effectively in both independently and in a team environment.
- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills; detail-orientated and proactive in management of projects and tasks.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced, growth environment.
- Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods and move about the facility.
- Prolonged periods of time on computer.
- Usual office working conditions with the mix of a production environment.
