SUMMARY

JOB DUTIES

• Maintains transport logs and documents daily events/incidents.
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspections of all program vehicles, including the program bus
• Ensures that program vehicles are serviced, as necessary and that vehicles are fueled
• Inspects van/bus; checks gas, oil, and coolant regularly and I a timely manner and submit weekly inspection reports to the appropriate department.
• Cleans vehicles inside and out, including cleaning windows, sweeping the floor, wiping down and sanitizing the bus seats

Brings vehicles in for routine maintenance/repairs to supervisor's attention; obtains repair estimates.

• Transports consumers to various locations, special events, and medical appointments; planning route and coordinating schedule with supervisor and or/or program support staff.
• Provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting vehicles as needed
• Provides assistance with workshop set-up and break-down
• Provides light program maintenance, as needed.
• Maintains daily driving log and contact sheets in a timely and accurate manner.
• Complies with all traffic regulations, reporting delays and accidents in an accurate and timely manner.
• Follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

• High school diploma or GED.
• Eligible for FNA auto insurance coverage, as demonstrated by a current/valid Alaska Driver License and acceptable driving record, while meeting age requirement for such coverage.
• CDL with Passenger Endorsement (Class A).
• Minimum of six (6) months driving experience.
• Current CPR/First Aide or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Physical demands will vary with tasks assigned. Overall demands should be consistent with medium work requirements, requiring exertion of weight up to 20-5 pounds, and providing assistance of passengers on and off the bus/van. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items; with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The office is a non-smoking facility with outside smoking areas. Requires working outside, and may involve local travel between various program components of FNA and the community, involving exposure to extreme weather conditions; may require working with chemical cleaners and solvents, as well as working evenings and weekends. Works in an environment where protection of consumer confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where/when needed.

SPECIFICATIONS

Supervision Received:

Position receives direct supervision from immediate supervisor; however, incumbent is expected to effectively perform day-to-day activity as denoted within job description. Work will be monitored through weekly meetings, monthly reports, and regular communication with your supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements and the general policies and procedures of FNA.

Impact at the program level is high. Program’s level of compliance with program standards is directly affected by the effective performance of duties, especially as they relate to providing program services.

Per FNA’s automotive insurance policy, in order to drive a FNA-owned vehicle, an individual must be at least 21 years of age. In order to drive a FNA-owned vehicle with consumers in the vehicle, an individual must be at least 25 years of age. No employee may transport a FNA consumer in a personal vehicle.
