What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER INTERN - Accounting Aide position at Fairfax Water?
Under the supervision of the General Accounting Supervisor, the Accounting Aide provides support to the General Accounting team in accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Accounting Aide is responsible for processing and monitoring customer payments, document filing, compiling expense reports and invoices, and various other duties as assigned.
- Accepts customer payments and provides a high level of customer service support.
- Processes and posts transactions (cash and checks) for payments received from
- customers.
- Maintains the direct debit program ensuring accurate setup of customer bank
- information.
- Research customer payments for accounts that are eligible for a refund and assists with
- daily returns.
- Assists in downloading accounts payable invoices and prepare expense reports.
- Maintains accounts receivable and accounts payable files and performs other administrative functions.
- Opens and date stamps mail/invoices received.
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall to qualify for the program.
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
- Specific safety requirements.
- Position Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
