What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER INTERN - Laboratory Aide position at Fairfax Water?
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Aide provides general laboratory and administrative support to the Water Quality Laboratory. The Laboratory Aide is responsible for supporting the sampling and testing activities performed by the Water Quality Laboratory and various other duties as assigned. In return, the Laboratory Aide will receive hands-on exposure to the inner workings of a utility drinking water laboratory.
- Basic laboratory support including cleaning glassware, preparing reagents, performing safety and/or QC checks, etc.
- General administrative support including document digitization, sorting, filing, etc.
- Sample delivery and supply transport
- Assist with special projects
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety
- Current student majoring in a physical science such as Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or Environmental Science (preferred)
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall to qualify for the program.
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.

- Position Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
