What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUMMER INTERN - Maintenance Aide position at Fairfax Water?
Under the supervision of Sr. Plant Engineer or appropriate Trade Supervisor, the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Maintenance Aide provides support to the Production Team, to include plant mechanical, electrical, operational, instrumentation, and planning staff. The WTP Maintenance Aide is responsible for assisting qualified trade staff with the maintenance and operation of an advanced drinking water treatment plant. - Support plant-wide asset management projects and maintenance as directed by experienced trade staff.
- Conduct light preventative maintenance activities and equipment cleaning.
- Perform light industrial general site cleaning.
- Support maintenance teams in gathering and moving tools and equipment to jobsites.
- Conduct their work in a safe manner and follow Fairfax Water safety policy.
- Work with power and hand tools.
- Follow the direction of experienced tradesman and seek clarification if directions are unclear.
- Drive a Fairfax Water vehicle, as needed, to support maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
- Specific safety requirements.
- Position Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Enrolled as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school for the upcoming fall.
- Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments: outside, industrial, and office
- Ability to work from a ladder.
- Ability to operate a hand truck, pallet jack, and other hand operated tools.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
