IICAPS Mental Health Counselor-$51,400 quarterly incentives
Family & Children's Aid (FCA) is currently seeking a dedicated, Bachelor's level Mental Health Counselor to join our Intensive In-home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS) program. FCA has locations in Danbury, New Milford, Waterbury, Torrington, New Britain, Bridgeport and Shelton. We hire Spanish speaking and English speaking Mental Health Counselors.
The IICAPS model is designed to address specific psychiatric disorders in clients between the ages of 5 and 17, while remediating problematic parenting practices and/or addressing other family challenges that effect the child and family’s ability to function. While children with psychiatric symptoms are the focus of intervention, the model addresses and intervenes within the domains that impact the child most directly: family, school, community resources and service systems.
The IICAPS Mental Health Counselor works in partnership with a Master's Level Clinician fostering positive relationships with clients, families, school systems and community providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive care in all areas. Additional responsibilities include:
- Facilitating Individual & Parent Sessions
- Co-facilitating Family Therapy Counseling Sessions
- Psychoeducation
- Assessing and Contracting for Safety
- Limited on-call Support. Agency phone provided.
Qualifications and Skills
- Valid Bachelor's Degree - Field specific training provided
- Valid CT Driver's License and clean driving record highly preferred
- After School and Evening Availability for Client Sessions
- High level of Professionalism
- Ability to work in a Team Environment
- Crisis Intervention/De-escalation experience a plus
- In-home/Community-based Service experience a plus
- Spanish Speaking a plus

- Competitive Salary Range: $49,400.00-$54,600.00. Salary range takes into consideration bilingual capabilities.
- Additional $2 per hour for face to face time with clients. Opportunity to earn up to $2,000 more per year (included in salary range above).
