Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide personal care assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, etc.)
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry
- Monitor and report any changes in the client’s health or behavior to the supervisor
- Support clients with mobility needs, ensuring their safety
- Help with medication reminders and schedule management
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Accompany clients to appointments or on errands, as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and any incidents
- Follow all care plans and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies
- Work directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and/or Nurse Supervisor(s)
- Report administratively to the Administrator or Administrative Assistant
Position Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid New Jersey Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification
- Completion of a 76-hour certified homemaker-home health aide training program approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, as required for certification by the New Jersey Board of Nursing
- Nursing students may work as a homemaker-home health aide with a written New Jersey Board of Nursing waiver in place of a certificate
- Previous experience as a Home Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, or a similar role is preferred
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a genuine passion for caring for others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and transfer patients as needed
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to pass a written/oral competency examination with a minimum score of 75%
- Demonstrate proficiency and clinical competencies related to the skills required of a CHHA
- Ability to read, write, and understand English as needed for the job, follow verbal and written instructions, and carry out the plan of care as well as the delegation/direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Nursing Supervisor(s)
- As required by federal law, must be eligible to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification document form within the prescribed time frame upon hire
