ABOUT THE ROLE

Ferguson Electric’s Tool Distribution Manager role reports to the Chief Operating Officer all while strongly upholding and promoting the organization's core values. As the Tool Distribution Manager at Ferguson Electric, you will be responsible for overseeing the comprehensive inventory management of tools and equipment essential for our commercial electrical contracting projects. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and an in-depth understanding of inventory management systems. Your efforts will ensure that our teams are well-equipped to execute projects safely, efficiently and on time.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment.
  • Implement and manage inventory tracking systems to monitor tool usage, location, and condition.
  • Conduct regular physical inventories and audits to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Tool Maintenance and Repair:
  • Schedule and oversee the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment to ensure they are in safe and working condition.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services.
  • Procurement:
  • Identify the need for new tools and equipment and assist in the procurement process.
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best value for purchases.
  • Logistics Coordination:
  • Ensure timely distribution and return of tools to and from job sites.
  • Develop and implement protocols for tool check-in/check-out processes.
  • Budget Management:
  • Monitor and manage the tool inventory budget, ensuring cost-effective inventory control.
  • Provide regular reports on inventory levels, usage patterns, and budget compliance.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all tools and equipment meet safety standards and compliance regulations.
  • Train staff on proper use and handling of tools and equipment.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and field staff to anticipate and meet tool and equipment needs.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff on inventory-related issues and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred or equal and relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in inventory management, preferably within the construction or electrical contracting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management software and systems.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and compliance regulations related to tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending as part of regular job duties.
