What are the responsibilities and job description for the DRIVER CHECK IN CLERK position at Ferraro Foods of New York East?
Job Summary:
The Driver Check-In Clerk is responsible for reviewing invoices and all other paperwork concerning returns and making the necessary corrections.
The Driver Check-In shall be accountable to, and supervised by, the Transportation Manager and Director of Operations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Check in all returns. Inspect all returned items and make sure they are properly separated and returned to their designated area.
- Review all paperwork to ensure proper credits are assigned.
- Maintain daily communication with the credit department, salesman, and regional managers with any issues. Keeps management aware of any problems and/or issues concerning returns.
- Teach new drivers return procedures.
- Communicate “picking errors”, truck loading issues, and improper mapping of the trucks to night shift management.
- Maintain Driver’s equipment. Reinforce Drivers to turn in log sheets and mileage reports accurately.
- Assist Transportation with delivery, scheduling & printing out of both shipping and receiving labels.
- Performs clerical functions for the department including: answering phones, faxing, assisting as administrative support for the Department when needed.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with PC applications software and database programs. Knowledge of Excel and Word a must.
- The ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional phone skills, aand bility to interact with all levels of staff.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Works in an office environment within the warehouse.
- Some physical discomfort due to spice odors and other elements while in the warehouse.
