The Radiation Therapist will work closely with Radiation Oncologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality treatment delivery and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate radiation therapy equipment to deliver ionizing radiation for the treatment of neoplastic diseases and other therapeutic purposes.
- Perform high-quality radiation therapy procedures according to exam protocols and the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription.
- Conduct pretreatment preparations, including simulations and the fabrication of treatment devices.
- Perform daily morning quality assurance (QA) on linear accelerators and CT simulators.
- Record patient treatment delivery details and positioning information using hospital and Radiation Oncology EMR systems.
- Communicate relevant information regarding patient care coordination and assist in scheduling patients for simulation and treatment.
- Participate in on-call procedures as needed.
- Provide patient education and emotional support, ensuring a positive and compassionate care experience.
- Maintain calmness and professionalism under pressure and take appropriate steps to resolve issues effectively.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless delivery of care.
- Graduate of an approved program in Radiation Therapy.
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
- Licensed by the state of New Mexico or eligible for licensure in New Mexico.
- CPR certification is required.
- 3–5 years of experience in Radiation Therapy is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating radiation therapy equipment and performing QA procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow treatment protocols accurately.
- This is a full-time onsite position.
- Candidates must be available for on-call shifts when required.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and patient care needs.
