The Digital Merchandiser is an essential member of the JD Finish Line Digital team who is responsible for the execution of the digital merchandising strategy, focused on driving conversion and sales for a key product category on both Finishline.com and JDsports.com. This role is responsible for developing compelling merchandising stories across multiple categories, analyzing ecommerce KPIs and creating a seamless shopping experience for customers focused around product.

  • Optimize site search, online navigation, product sorting & boosting rules and overall site presentation based on analytics.

  • Utilize analytics and reporting tools to measure site performance and customer interaction, as it relates to site merchandising, to understand what is working, what is not and identify opportunities.

  • Examines site daily/weekly to ensure products are in the correct categories, links lead to the correct categories/pages and product set up is accurate, creating a seamless customer experience.

  • Collaborate with Copywriters, Associate Merchandisers and Photography team on new product set up processes including categorization, attribution, reviewing product copy, and product image accuracy. 

  • Supports Marketing teams by developing compelling merchandising themes and story-telling across categories to drive conversion, sales and margin.

  • Manages and optimizes site search results for increased product sales. Identifies and fixes null searches, creates and manages a library of synonyms for frequently misspelled products and keywords.

  • Weekly reviews and reports on Ecommerce KPIs and provides in-depth performance analysis – category performance, new growth opportunities, site conversion, testing ideas and customer shopping behavior.

  • Participate in cross-functional seasonal planning to develop site content calendar.

  • Works directly with buyers to create brand or category product collections to provide the customer with the best possible product selection.

  • Monitor the marketplace and competitive set for trends and new ideas related to the online consumer shopping experience and site presentation.

  • Works directly in ecommerce platform tool (Oracle Commerce) to create new product pages for promotions, email, social or other marketing needs.

  • Additional duties and projects as required

 

Required Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience required, with Business, Merchandising, Communications preferred.  Minimum of 2-4 years relevant work experience required in eCommerce.  Experience in web site interaction and back end tools is preferred.  Previous experience using eCommerce platforms is highly preferred.  Experience in multi-vendor retailing is a plus. 

 

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

 

Excellent computer skills, including basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Suite. High degree of internet savvy, with a curiosity and enthusiasm for digital and media trends.

  • The work environment for this position is a moderately noisy office setting.

Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per the company policy. Pay range: $60,000 - $74,000 (Depending on Experience); 10% bonus target. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
