What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Firehawk?

The staff accountant role will report to the controller and will primarily be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate recording of all transactions in the general ledger. Essential functions and tasks for this role include the following:
- Process accounts payable and ensure correct coding to multiple cost centers.
- Collaborate with Procurement to set up new vendors and maintain vendor files.
- Record month end accruals and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support external auditors.
- Support ERP implementation.
- Prepare documentation for compliance and accounting processes and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Perform ad hoc reporting as requested from Finance and Accounting teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency with MS Office and advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with a defense contractor, CAS, FAR, DFARS or aerospace is preferred.
- Experience with SAP or Costpoint is preferred.
