Description

The Bank Teller role is intended to provide exceptional service to our customers by handling routine tasks, such as processing payments, accepting deposits, and handling withdrawals. The Bank Teller will respond to customer requests and inquiries, make recommendations about bank products and services, maintain and balance cash supplies, and keep track of bank records and financial information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer incoming phone calls in a timely manner and according to telephone service standards, providing courteous and helpful service to both internal and external customers. Take initiative to “own the call” through to resolution, reducing or eliminating the need to transfer the customer to another department.
  • Handle customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently and adjust speed to differences in customer traffic and flow.
  • Cash checks according to Bank policies and procedures, verifying the date, legality of document presented, and verifying ID of person receiving payment.
  • Accept payments for various types of loans.
  • Issue cashier checks and money orders.
  • Verify accuracy of deposits.
  • Assist customers with unauthorized ACH activity, stop payments, alerts, address changes, check orders, deposit slip orders, telephone transfers, and items for collection.
  • Assist customers with phone transfers, account balances, statement copies and account activity.
  • Accurately file completed work as needed.
  • Presents a neat and professional appearance.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area that is well stocked with needed supplies.
  • Basic understanding of the consumer products and services offered by the bank with the ability to cross-sell.
  • Knows and follows all policies and procedures in completing transactions, minimizing operational errors and maintaining a proper work flow.
  • Accept deposits for checking and savings accounts; verify cash and checks received; determine proper short and long-term holds to be placed on deposited funds, in accordance with Regulation CC.
  • Process night deposits, mail receipts and keep records.
  • Completes daily balancing accurately
  • Adhere to all Bank policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with new and existing Federal rules and regulations, as well as new and existing NACHA rules and regulations.
  • All other jobs as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

This job operates in a professional bank environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
