What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Junior High Ministry position at First United Methodist Church?
DIRECTOR OF JUNIOR HIGH MINISTRY
Full-Time, Salary Exempt Employee
Reports to: Executive Pastor
Main Function: The Director of Junior High Ministry will lead the Junior High Students in grades 7 & 8 in making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This includes Sunday school, Wednesday night small groups, & Sunday night worship. The director will also focus on Girl’s Ministry (grades 7 – 12 ) by hosting events, developing Bible studies, and leading small group lessons. The Director of Junior High Ministry & the Director of Student Ministry will work together to plan trips, events, & programming for the entire Youth Ministry (grades 7 – 12)
Ministry Goals:
- To grow the Junior High Student Ministry.
- To create a culture of leadership amongst our Student Ministry.
- To develop & disciple our Junior High and Girls Ministry.
- To create in our students the desire to serve through missional outreach.
- To enlist other adult leaders to share with students.
- To help create a smooth transition of students from Children’s/Tween Ministry to Student Ministry.
Principal Duties:
- Lead effective small group ministry for Junior High Students
- Cultivate strong volunteers for a strong ministry.
- Lead Junior High Winter retreat & other Junior High events.
- Develop a plan for Junior High Ministry and implement it.
- Form lessons and Bible studies for Girl’s Ministry.
- Host Girl’s Ministry events.
- Assist with retreats and trips for the Student Ministry.
- Assist with social media accounts for the Student Ministry.
- Help with outreach and service opportunities.
- Attend student extracurricular events.
- Connect with schools and local FCA organizations.
- Work with the Director of Student Ministries to plan and host Student Ministry events & trips.
Staff Expectations & Working Environment:
The Director of Junior High Ministry, along with all employees of First United Methodist Church, are expected to (1) behave in such a way as to bring honor to Christ and church, (2) be supportive of UM Theology, and (3) participate as a team player with the rest of the church staff.
