Assistant Chief Credit Officer Position Overview:

Work with the Chief Credit Officer to ensure safety and soundness of First Western Bank & Trust’s lending activities; responsible for identifying and understanding developing trends and analyzing performance to develop an assessment of credit risks.

Assistant Chief Credit Officer Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in ensuring safe and sound lending practices through ongoing monitoring of the loan portfolio and observance of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors, and competition that may impact credit quality
• Work closely with senior management and lenders to identify and mitigate risks in loan portfolios
• Assist in structuring commercial, ag and consumer loan transactions
• Assist in evaluating and then approving or declining policy exceptions
• Participate as a non-voting member of various credit risk oversight committees of the Bank
• Assist with updating credit policies and procedures
• Examine files periodically for assurance of credit and collateral documentation, regulatory compliance, and loan policy conformance
• Assist in monitoring portfolio reports to ensure the correction of credit documentation deficiencies and adherence to sound documentation procedures, prompt identification and workout of problem loans, and the execution of corrective action to eliminate examination criticisms
• Assign appropriate risk ratings, as needed, in conjunction with loan loss reserve analysis
• Supervise a portion of the Credit Analysts to include performance reviews and career coaching
  
  

Assistant Chief Credit Officer Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other business degree is required
• Extensive knowledge of commercial lending practices, regulatory rules, and loan documentation
• Minimum 10 years of direct ag, commercial, and consumer experience in a diverse lending setting, combined with 5 years of supervisory authority in a lending environment
• Excellent knowledge of banking administration, leadership strategies, quality management, bank products/services, bank processes/procedures, bank structure, regulations/compliance, credit risk management, and management of strategic planning initiatives
• Thorough knowledge and proficiency in the use of advanced quantitative tools and techniques such as credit scoring, financial forecasting, modeling, the use of economic capital methodologies, and the risk analytic techniques used in sophisticated portfolio management
