Position Overview:
Ellevate Louisiana is seeking a dedicated and professional Policy Coordinator to join our team! This full-time position offers a competitive salary and benefits and provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of connecting and empowering women leaders statewide while advancing Louisiana through thoughtful bipartisan policy and leadership.
Responsibilities:
Policy Committee Organization:
· Organize and manage committee members, agendas, and speakers for Ellevate’s five policy committees:
o Health & Wellness
o Environment & Infrastructure
o Workforce & Higher Education
o Early Education & K-12
o Taxation & Economic Development
· Research and recommend discussion topics aligned with Louisiana's policy priorities.
· Schedule guest speakers and manage presentation logistics.
· Maintain detailed records, meeting minutes, and updated policy positions.
Legislative Monitoring & Advocacy:
· Track and monitor legislation relevant to Ellevate’s mission, particularly during the legislative session.
· Draft policy briefs, advocacy materials, and talking points.
· Attend hearings, meet with policymakers, and represent Ellevate’s positions.
Event Support:
· Assist with the planning and execution of major events, especially regarding the policy portions of those events. These responsibilities include developing agendas, coordinating speakers, and managing logistics.
- Our Annual Events Include:
o Annual Policy Summit (Fall)
o Legislative Leadership Conference (Early Spring)
o Day at the Legislature (Spring)
o Washington Mardi Gras (Winter)
Content Development & Communication:
· Create engaging, data-driven content for newsletters, policy updates, social media, and campaigns.
· Oversee and edit the Daily Policy Press sent to members with relevant daily news stories.
· Prepare clear and concise summaries and reports for the Board of Directors and membership.
· Coordinate press releases.
· Create PowerPoint updates on various policy issues.
· Coordinate digital media campaigns.
· Coordinate video/podcast content.
Leadership & Mentorship:
· Supervise and mentor interns.
· Represent Ellevate at partner organization events and build collaborative relationships.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Experience:
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with experience in policy and technical writing.
- Proficiency in Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office programs, and Canva is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of Louisiana public policy issues and the political landscape is a plus.

Work Environment:
Hybrid:
- Primarily remote, but with in-person attendance required for Ellevate events, community events, and collaborative sessions.
