Under general supervision, provides education services to students identified as typical or disabled in accordance with the state and federal regulations. Work involves developing and implementing the Individual Education Program (IEP) in classroom settings that are compatible with the students' age and developmental level. The teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans, for typical and non-typical students, adapting materials and designing activities to assist students to develop appropriate academic, behavioral, and social skills through differentiation and teaching to the scope and sequence. The teacher is responsible for monitoring students' progress and for maintaining records in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Reports to the Academy Director.
Due to an influx of student applications we will be opening additional classrooms for the 2023-2024 academic school year and hiring for the following position:
Academic Instructor: Elementary School (EC) - Level One
Working Hours: 7:15am - 4:15pm
Exceptional children's (EC) level-one, elementary school class for the 2023-2024 academic school year.
- All students are screened for admittance.
- We service typical and mild-to-moderate (EC) students only.
- Small class size - no more than 10 students.
- We do not service students with aggressive or violent behaviors.
- Personal cell phones and electronic devices are not authorized for students.
- Instructors DO NOT have to assist with restroom needs.
- Onsite ABA/RBT, Speech, and OT services.
- CCTV security cameras are throughout the building and in classrooms, along with onsite security personnel.
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to teach to three main modalities of auditory, visual and kinetic.
- Must know and be able to develop and implement an instructional plan which is compatible with the school and system-wide curricular goals and the students IEP for non-typical students using differentiation methods without supervision.
- Must understand and implement guided reading.
- Must be able to work with students who have a variety of mild to moderate neurological learning challenges (ADD, ADHD, autism, emotional issues, dyslexia, etc.); instructors do not have to assist with restroom needs.
- Must be a team player and work well with peers and administration.
- Must be computer literate and learn digital communication program used by school.
- Must be punctual and participate in before and/or after school activities/functions.
- Must have minimum of 4 year college degree in any field; does not have to be certified by state, but must have experience teaching high school.
